16:3', 24/8/ 2008 (GMT+7)

A torch relay entitled “Vietnam’s bright torch following the steps of Uncle Ho” arrived in Binh Dinh on August 22.

A ceremony to receive the torch was held under the statue of King Quang Trung. Chairman of Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thien and other provincial leaders attended the ceremony.

The torch will travel through 36 provinces and cities from Cao Bang to Ca Mau. Its final destination is the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Ho Chi Minh City on Sept. 2.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Thien affirmed that the torch relay helped educate the patriotic spirit and revolutionary tradition for all people, especially the young generation.

He called on all Party members and people of Binh Dinh province to study and follow Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals.

Also, on this occasion, the Organization Board presented VND50 million to Binh Dinh Fund for the poor. The Ho Chi Minh City Television Station granted 10 scholarships to poor students in Binh Dinh.
