Many school started the new academic year one day earlier. Secretary of provincial Party Committee Vu Hoang Ha attended the academic year opening ceremony at Le Quy Don gifted high school.

In the previous year, Le Quy Don’s students reaped many achievements at both provincial and national magnitude. 90.2 percent of its students passed the university entrance exam in the 2007-2008 academic year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ha warmly congratulated teachers and students on their achievements in the past few years, asking them to promote the teaching and learning for better results in new academic year.

Being a top school in Binh Dinh, it’s necessary to strengthen the renewal of methodology and the improvement of quality of teaching staff and infrastructure, he added, to provide the highly qualified human resources for Binh Dinh’s industrialization and modernisation process.

Other schools in Quy Nhon city, including a pre-school, Ly Thuong Kiet primary school, and Le Hong Phong junior high school, also started the new academic year on September 4.

Ly Thuong Kiet primary school is one of high quality primary schools in Binh Dinh. In the previous school year, its students got many prizes in academic contests and other competitions.

On the opening of the new 2008-2009 academic year and the Day of the whole people's bringing children to school, Ly Thuong Kiet’s teachers and students determined to well carry out the campaign entitled “Each teacher should set an example of morality, self-study and creativity”.

In Tuy Phuoc District, most students also went to schools from August 12 and 18. “Schools begin new academic year one-two weeks earlier to avoid possible floods,” said Tran Huu Tuong, head of Tuy Phuoc District Education and Training Division.

The jubilant atmosphere of new academic year could be seen in remote and mountainous areas in Binh Dinh. More 28 classrooms were newly built in An Lao District. At present, An Hoa junior high school is under construction to meet the demand.

In the 2008-2009 academic year, there are three new kindergartens in An Lao. This helps all children, including 3-year ones, go to nursery schools.

A half of students in An Lao are ethnic minorities. Most of them went to schools without new clothes; however, they were aided with textbooks and subsistence payment.

Ethnic minority students in Hoai An District could go to new schools in the new academic year. A newly-built boarding school is expected to create favorable conditions for ethnic minority students.

44 new classrooms were also built this year, helping students and teachers focus on teaching and learning, according to Tran Van Thom, head of Hoai An Education and Training Division.

This academic year also saw the information technology application in high schools. A recruitment scheme is going to be held in the coming time to recruit 336 new teachers.

Tran Van Qui, director of provincial Education and Training Department, said that in the 2008-2009 academic year, Binh Dinh’s education service would make great efforts to concentrate on implementing its major tasks and settling its short-term concrete issues, implementing the campaign 'Learning and following Ho Chi Minh moral example' and continuing to implement its 'Two Nos' campaign with four contents.

The education and training service would continue to implement the academic year's theme “Promoting information technology application, renewing financial management, and building friendly schools and developing active students,” he added.
