Mid-Autumn Festival 2008 themed “Safety for children to live and develop”. Binh Dinh Department of Labor, War Invalids, Social Welfare launched the campaign entitled “The whole people save energy on Mid-Autumn’s day, spending time enjoying Mid-Autumn with children.”
Enjoying the Mid-Autumn festival is the right of all Vietnamese children since Vietnam ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, promulgated the Law of protecting, caring for, and educating children, and built action program for children.
Annually, State President sends letter to young pioneers and children on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival, wishing them to become excellent pupils and fine children and grow into useful people in the future.
The letter is also an orientation for the protection and care for children.
To successfully hold this year’s Mid-Autumn festival, Binh Dinh People’s Committee on August 26 steered provincial bodies and agencies to build programs for underprivileged children and those who live in mountainous and remote areas.
Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Welfare planned to hold the Mid-Autumn festival for children with the theme “Safety for children to live and develop”.
The campaign entitled “The whole people save energy on Mid-Autumn’s day, spending time enjoying Mid-Autumn with children” was also launched on this occasion.
Before the Mid-Autumn, provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Welfare looked for sponsorship from different sources, giving priority over disadvantaged children to help them enjoy the Mid-Autumn festival.
Binh Dinh’s Fund for Sponsoring Children presented gifts to disadvantaged children, holding many activities for 500 children in Phu Cat District on Sep.12. They could enjoy art performance, mua lan (lion dance), and moon cakes.
A Mid-Autumn festival will be held for children in Quy Nhon city on September 13 with the biggest ever scale in Binh Dinh.
Thousands of children, including underprivileged ones, will join the festival and receive presents. Also, they will be able to enjoy many interesting programs. The festival is to be live broadcast on BTV’s channel.
Hundreds of children who are poor, handicapped, and orphaned in mountainous Districts, provincial social sponsoring center, and Binh Dinh vocational training school received presents on the occasion of Mid-Autumn festival.
The Mid-Autumn festival is an opportunity for the whole society, including authorities, bodies, and individuals to help children, particularly disadvantaged ones.
