The central province of Binh Dinh has reached an agreement with the Belgian Technical Cooperation Agency over a project to supply safe water and treat solid waste in several localities, with total investment estimated at 6.45 million EUR.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Belgian government will provide 5 million EUR to help Binh Dinh province implement three sub-projects to provide safe water for seven flood-hit communes; build a reservoir in My Chau commune, Phu My district; and treat solid waste in the four districts of Tay Son, Anh Nhon, Phu My and Hoai Nhon.
The water supply and solid waste treatment project will commence in 2009 and are expected to be completed in 2011.
In addition, Belgium has agreed to provide Binh Dinh with more than 2.7 million EUR to fund two projects intended to increase agricultural production and improve living conditions for the residents of Phu My district.
