The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) project finished its tasks in the central province of Binh Dinh. The project has brought a bright picture to the province’s nursery education, particularly in far and remote areas.

Various forms of communications

The ECCE project spent most of its expenses raising the awareness of local authorities, communities, and parents about early childhood care and nursery education.

The project management board set up steering panels of all levels, aiming to strengthen the communications campaign across the province.

Many seminars on raising the people’s awareness of nursery education were promptly implemented, helping parents, relevant bodies, and the whole community focus on early childhood care and education. This also created favourable conditions for the project implementation.

Series of activities, such as propaganda via meetings, art performances, and various types of contests took place. The combination among them produced great effectiveness.

Alongside these, some training courses were opened to improve the officials’ capacity as well as the awareness of local authorities and organisations.

With the help of New Zealand’s experts, nursery teachers in Binh Dinh had opportunities to improve their qualification. They are now able to teach 3-5 aged children basing on their creativeness.

Long-term effectiveness

3-5 year-old children in far and remote areas benefited from the implementation of the project. Its activities are preparations for the Ministry of Education and Training’s new nursery education program.

Newly-built schools had positive effects on the locals. They happily contributed anything possible to build more educational facilities for their children.

The community’s awareness of nursery education has dramatically changed. Childhood education is the responsibility of both the education sector and the whole community. The mid-term review of ECCE project said this “exceeded the expectations.”

“The commune contributed VND806 million to land clearance, compensation, and construction,” said vice chairman of Hoai Chau commune People’s Committee Nguyen Xuan Thanh. “Spacious schools and highly-qualified teachers attracted a large number of children.”

Other schools which were not under the project were also under the construction. Many communes in districts of Hoai Nhon, Phu My, Tay Son, and Tuy Phuoc had their nursery schools repaired because they want all children to have the best conditions.
