The 50th anniversary of Vinh Thanh Uprising (1959-2009) was held at Vinh Thanh Stadium, Vinh Thanh District on Feb. 6.

Past and present provincial leaders and scores of people attended the ceremony.

A march with the participation of nearly 2,000 local students, soldiers, and people opened the ceremony. Delivering the speech, provincial Chairman Nguyen Van Thien praised Vinh Thanh District’s achievements in two resistance wars, affirming the significance of Vinh Thanh Uprising in the revolutionary movement in the south as well as in Binh Dinh.

Thien also expressed the hope that Vinh Thanh will strengthen its economy this year, ensuring the high and stable economic growth, narrowing the gap between plains and hill areas.

Chairman of Vinh Thanh District People’s Committee Tran Cong Sy launched the emulation movement on finishing the 2009’s tasks.

Participants also attended the incense offerring ceremony at Vinh Thanh District’s Martyrs’ Cemetery.

Many programs took place during two days, Feb. 4-5, such as camping, photo exhibition, gong competition, sporting and art events, and folk games.
