Epidemic prevention, food safety top priority

The province’s People’s Committee held an urgent meeting on the food safety and hygiene and epidemic prevention on June 15.

Statistics released by the Health sector showed the summer epidemic, petechial fever, and influenza A H1N1 are at risk. The province has seen 272 petechial fever cases so far, a surge of 268 percent over last year.

Under the issue of food safety, reports said that there are 7,576 small-scaled food suppliers in the province.

The province’s Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh highly valued the efforts of bodies and localities in preventing the epidemic risk.

Binh asked them to strengthen their cooperation and responsibilities for preventing epidemic and ensuring food safety and hygiene till the end of July, particularly when the entrance exams take place in Binh Dinh.

She also required relevant bodies to focus on the popularization, aiming to the raise the community’s awareness of epidemic prevention and food safety.
