According to the study, the average sea level will rise by 11.6 cm and the rainfall is expected to increase by 0.6 percent by 2020.

Climate change is now a global issue, affecting many countries and territories. Facing risks and challenges caused by climate change, the UN launched the “clean up the world” campaign 2009 with the theme “Communities uniting to combat climate change.”

Climate change – challenges of human

Experts said that global warming, glaciers melting, greenhouse gases, and greenhouse effect are challenges of human.

It is human being that is responsible for the global warming. It has resulted in ocean warming, sea-level rise, and Arctic and Antarctic warming.

Climate change is now affecting all parts of the world and increasing the rate of some serious diseases, such as malaria, diarrhea, and malnutrition.

Statistics released by Global Humanitarian Forum showed that every year climate change leaves over 315 people dead, 325 million people seriously affected, and economic losses of US$125 billion.

By the year 2030, almost twice the number of people is expected to be seriously affected, either by natural disasters caused climate change or through gradual environmental degradation.

Vietnam is one of countries most affected by climate change. According to scientists, in Vietnam, the annual average temperature has increased by about 0.5-0.7 degrees centigrade in the last 50 years (1958-2007), and sea levels have increased by about 20cm in the same time.

It has been facing a number of impacts due to climate change that effect many aspects of life, from daily life and earning a livelihood, to natural resources, infrastructure and the economy.

Binh Dinh will join the campaign

Facing risks and challenges caused by climate change, the UN launched the “Clean up the world” campaign with the theme “Communities uniting to combat climate change”.

The “Clean up the world” founder Ian Kiernan says, “We all need to unite at local and global levels and across all sectors of society if we are to bring about the level of change required and create the kind of world we wish for.”

He also urged all to join the campaign and make a difference. “Let’s all work together to help clean up the world,” he said.

Responding to the campaign, about 35 million people from 120 countries have joined the “Clean up the world” campaign this year.

In Vietnam, the campaign will include various activities, starting with the launching ceremony taking place in Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province in the coming time.

Experts also said that Binh Dinh is one of provinces affected by climate change. The province has, therefore, focused on the issue.

Binh Dinh People’s Committee signed a memorandum of understanding with the Canadian Institute for Social and Environmental Transition (ISET) and Challenge to Change, a non-governmental organisation from the UK on implementing the “capacity building for responding to climate change in Quy Nhon city and adjacent areas” project.

Also, many events have been held in Binh Dinh, responding to the campaign. The province’s bodies and agencies were asked to organize activities, aiming to raise the people’s awareness of climate change
