A ceremony was held in Phu My town on September 18, responding to the “Clean up the world” campaign 2009.

Representatives of relevant bodies and more than 1,000 Youth Union members attended the event.

This year’s campaign with the theme “Communities uniting to combat climate change” has been launched from Sep.18-20, aiming to raise the communities’ awareness of causes and consequences of environment pollution and climate change.

It also aims to encourage all people to join activities protecting the environment and use sources of alternative energy.

The “Clean up the world” campaign firstly began in Australia in 1993. The UN annually launches the campaign in the third week of September, attracting more than 120 countries.

Vietnam has joined the campaign since 1994.
