14:34', 15/10/ 2010 (GMT+7)

The Binh Dinh Women’s Union held a ceremony in Quy Nhon on October 14, marking the 80th founding anniversary of Vietnam Women’s Union.

Chairman of Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thien delivers a speech at the ceremony.

Provincial leaders, the representatives of bodies, and nearly 700 women attended the ceremony.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Chairwoman of provincial Women’s Union Pham Thi Thanh Hong reviewed the 80-year history of the Vietnam Women’s Union. During the revolutionary causes, the Vietnam Women’s Union has always followed the goal of creating “equality, development, and peace”.

In Binh Dinh, the first women’s association was set up in Cuu Loi hamlet, Tam Quan commune. During two revolutionary wars, Binh Dinh’s women greatly contributed to the cause of national liberation and reunification.

After the liberation of the country, they have continued to uphold their role and tradition in the society and at home.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thien praised the women’s contributions in the past 80 years, expressing the hope that Binh Dinh’s women will further contribute to the province’s development.
