Many charitable activities have been held during these days in the central province of Binh Dinh, aiming to help underprivileged and disabled kids enjoy the Tet (lunar New Year) holiday.
From “a house for unfortunate”
At Dong Tam Social Sponsoring Center, there are now 105 disabled children living. They have made their all-out effort to study, hoping that they will soon integrate into the community.
When being asked if they like Tet, all said they like enjoying Tet because they will be given new clothes, presents, and money.
“Some benefactors helped the center build three new houses this year,” said the center’s vice director Nguyen Nhon. “Also, the province’s Youth Union, Tuoi Tre and Thanh Nien Newspapers, and benefactors presented many Tet gifts to children living here.”
At the province’s Social Sponsoring Center located in An Nhon district, its staff are preparing Tet gifts to 150 people, let alone five computers and a sum of VND3 million donated by a group of benefactors living in Quy Nhon city.
152 disabled children living and studying at Nguyen Nga vocational training center will also be presented Tet gifts before returning to their home on the occasion of Tet. Among them, 23 were granted scholarships to go to universities. They are expected to be examples for the others to follow.
…to the community
Those who are in the same boat and living in the community were also paid great attention. Dat Vo (Land of Martial Arts) Entrepreneurs’ Club, for example, coordinated with the municipal Youth Union to present a sum of VND2 million to Vo Thi Minh Hau, a diabetic who is under treatment at Quy Nhon General Hospital.
Also, children of the gratitude class located at Quang Trung ward received new clothes and attended a year-end party. Some volunteers planned to call for members of such online forums as sinhvienbinhdinh.vn and tuoitrebinhdinh.net to donate clothes and Tet gifts to poor children in Quy Nhon.
The province’s Youth Union, Binh Dinh Fatherland Front Committee, Thanh Nien Newspaper, and many benefactors visited and presented scores of Tet gifts to underprivileged children in far and remote areas. More than 200 homeless orphans were also presented gifts and money on the occasion of Tet.
The Tet gifts showed the affection of social bodies and the community for disadvantaged children.
