Dr. Nguyen Huu Le is now Chairman of the Board of Advisors of TMA Solutions, a private company headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City which specializes in software R&D outsourcing to telecom companies, many of them being world leaders in this field.
TMA is involved in four major fields, including networking software for telecommunications, business applications, training, and IT services. Dr. Le said: "TMA's top priority is the development of human resources. TMA employees must be graduates from universities in IT or telecom electronics and be fluent in English because this language is a means of working with foreign customers”.
TMA's tactic is doing business and taking training simultaneously. Working with many multi-national companies, TMA employees can be trained on-the-spot and enjoy many opportunities to work with the company's foreign customers using state-of-the-art laboratories. TMA Training Centre has opened courses on special subjects, such as software technical and language skills, aimed at obtaining a "double profit", i.e., to recruit qualified staff for the company and at the same time contribute to training human resources for the IT industry as a whole.
TMA has been highly evaluated by its clients due to its capable, qualified and experienced staff who have helped the company win large market shares in North America, Europe, Asia, Japan and Australia. It has dozens of major customers, including Nortel (North America), Alcatel Lucent (the United States and Europe), Blade Network Technologies (USA) and NTT-Software (Japan).
At the time Dr. Le returned home, the Vietnamese IT industry was defined by the State as becoming a spearhead industry. That favoured his work very much. He said that Vietnam has the potential for further developing the IT industry because the country's development is stable and its rate of young population is high. Every year a great number of students graduate from IT universities that lay a good foundation to provide highly skilled human resources, together with a high competitiveness in regards to labour cost.
Dr. Le revealed his innermost feelings. He said: "I was born in the parched land of Central Vietnam, so I am fully aware that the best way to escape from poverty is to study well in order to make a good living later."
Le recalled old memories, of which there were nights he had to study under the glow from a kerosene lamp in the boarding house, or during the time to prepare for examinations he reviewed the lessons under the light from a public lamp post. Dr. Le always encourages young people to study hard and improve, while he will try to do his best to contribute to the national construction and development with his wholehearted love.
Dr. Nguyen Huu Le was born in 1949 in the southern province of Binh Dinh. After graduating from the high school, he went to Australia for university study and graduated with a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. He shifted to study IT and received a doctoral degree in telecommunications in 1977 from Adelaide University (Australia). In 1978 he started working as a research staff for Nortel (Canada), a world leading telecom corporation. Twenty two years later, in early 2000, he left Nortel as a Vice President of Marketing to go back to Vietnam as the President and CEO of Paragon Solutions Asia Pacific, in charge of Paragon Solutions Vietnam and Paragon Solutions India. In late 2001, he joined TMA as the Chairman of the Board of Advisors.
TMA, headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, is running six modern labs with an average annual growth rate of 40%. From 2004 to 2008, TMA consecutively won a Gold Medal in software export. TMA's biggest and most state-of-the-art labs are located in Quang Trung Software Park (in Ho Chi Minh City). |
