Binh Dinh offered VND8.7 billion for drought relief

The government will release US$5.3 million from the state budget this year to ease drought conditions in Hai Phong City and 11 provinces in the northern and central regions.

According to the decision issued this week, VND100.1 billion will be spent on developing irrigation projects to mitigate impacts of last year's drought.

Recipients of the third tranche in drought support this year include Binh Dinh, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Quang Tri in the central region; and Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa and Hai Phong in northern region.

Earlier, the government had granted VND46.6 billion to six northern provinces and VND144.6 billion to 13 Mekong Delta provinces.
