DFRO offers 15 scholarships to poor students
14:5', 20/1/ 2011 (GMT+7)

Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Tan on Jan.18 received the delegation of the Canada-based Dreams Fulfilled Relief Organization, carrying out the “Trans-Vietnam journey” program in Binh Dinh.

The DFRO’s representative said the organization wanted to offer scholarships to poor but outstanding students, particularly those whose parents are leprosy patients, in Binh Dinh.

Tan said that Binh Dinh would fully support the DFRO’s scholarship programs for poor students as it is highly significant for the community.

At the meeting, two sides agreed to initially provide 15 scholarships to some students, including 5 primary students and 5 high school ones whose parents are lepers and 5 students belonging to poor households in Ghenh Rang ward.

DFRO is a non-profit organization founded by Do Thi Minh Hieu, an overseas Vietnamese in Canada. It was licensed by the Committee for Foreign NGO Affairs’ (COMINGO) People's Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM) in September, 2010. It aims to help orphan, poor, and disabled children and those who are Agent Orange victims.

The DFRO’s “trans-Vietnam journey” program entitled “The spring still comes” is scheduled to start on January 8 and last on January 23, aiming to help leprosy patients in four leper camps, including Ben San (Binh Duong Province), Van Mon (Thai Binh), Di Linh (Lam Dong), and Quy Hoa (Binh Dinh).
