At present, there are more than 52,000 underprivileged children in Binh Dinh, including 4,621 orphans and homeless ones, according to Nguyen Thi Phuong, an official of Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs.
The sector, relevant bodies, and charities have always been concerned about the child care and protection in the past years.
Also, a total of 1 billion VND is annually dedicated to support 600 children, let alone 169 orphans cared by the Youth unions at all levels. Most of them were offered medical insurance, educational facilities, and scholarships. However, many are still facing difficulties.
The Quy Nhon SOS Children’s Village coordinated with provincial relevant bodies to recruit women and laborers to work at the village. These women will play role as mother who will dedicate their life to unfortunate children and bring love and safety to any child.
10 of 18 women were selected to attend a training course at Vietnam SOS Center before returning to work at Quy Nhon SOS Children’s Village.
Each family in the village includes 9-10 children of different ages and one mother. They will grow up and share sadness and happiness together. All family members will live in a house which is comprised of a living room, a kitchen, a bedroom for mother and three bedrooms for children. The youngest child will sleep with the mother.
The village community will help children experience a real community. The village will be a bridge connecting all children with the world outside.
“We have coordinated with localities to select women and children for the village,” said director of Quy Nhon SOS Children Village, Nguyen Xuan Cuong. “We will strengthen the propagation and the village is expected to partly operate in early April.”
Together with other social centers, Quy Nhon SOS Children’s Village will contribute to take care of orphans and homeless children, helping them acquire essential knowledge to find stable jobs when they grow up.
