When medical students and doctors came to My Phong commune, poor people and teenagers had gathered at the hall of the commune’s People’s Committee to be tested and given medication.

“I was really happy when knowing doctors came here to treat us,” said Do Thi Hieu, a local resident in Dinh Binh hamlet, My Phong commune. “I woke up at 5 am and came here early.”

Poor people received free medication.

Alongside free medical test and medication, the team also offered 500 crates of milk, donated by Friesland Campina Vietnam, and 40 scholarships worth VND250,000 each, donated by My Tai Company, a member of Binh Dinh Young Entrepreneurs’ Association.

First-aid training and nutrition classes were held for 100 parents of primary students in two communes of My Phong and My An.

In My Chau commune, doctors and medical students were also busy giving medical tests to people. The team members also mobilized 1,600 union members and students to register for blood donation.

“We will try to provide treatment for as many people as possible and hope that there will be more chances for poor people,” said doctor Nguyen Huu Tho.

Doctor Le Thi Huong said she experiences many things from the journey and she is always ready to join such a program in the future.

A total of 1,600 people were offered free treatment and medication this time, according to Nguyen Van Duc, an official of province’s Youth Union.
