Four students won the highest prizes at the local computing contest

They are of different ages, hobbies, and thoughts but they all share the same interest in computing. They are four students winning the highest prizes at different levels when attending the Binh Dinh youth computing contest.

They are Huynh Tran Nhat Y (the fifth grader of Ngo Quyen primary school), Mai Tien Luat (the eighth grader of Luong The Vinh junior high school), Vo Trong Hieu and Nguyen Cao Thong (the eleventh graders of Le Quy Don gifted high school).

Y is the youngest among four students. He said he started using computer one year ago. Realizing he is interested in computing, his parents hired a tutor to teach him more about computing skills.

“I like Word and Paint most,” he said. “Using Paint, I’m able to draw anything I want, particularly such themes as environment and beach. With Word, I could create a birthday cards for myself and friends as well as make different beautiful frames.”

Y also sometimes uses his computer to play games but he is always aware of its effects; thus, he often plays games for only half an hour.

Luat was not talkative when talking about himself. He just thinks and acts. Before joining this year’s contest, Luat had previously won many prizes. He said he was surprised when winning the first prize at the contest as he didn’t finish the test as well as he expected.

As for the oldest students, they were quite embarrassed when receiving congratulations from their friends and teachers. Hieu knew how to use a computer when he became a 9th grader while Thong has only started using computer when he began to study at Le Quy Don high school.

Both of them have to live far from home, facing many difficulties but they overcame all challenges to study well. They said their dreams are to become the IT engineers.

Being asked about the preparation for the upcoming national youth computing contests held in August, Hieu said he would carefully seek much more information about the event and practice harder; meanwhile, Thong expressed he is a bit worried about his computing skills which may not good enough to expect the highest position when joining the event of national magnitude. However, he also showed his great determination as he believes that “trying your utmost will bring you success”
