The Binh Dinh Association in Support of Disabled people and Orphans funded the house construction for 8 families having disabled people and orphans. Living in the new houses, they are able to feel the love and share from the community.

Le Si and his granddaughter Nguyen Thi Trang in the newly-built house.

Nguyen Thi Minh is one of those who were aided in building new house. She is now able to feel happier when living in a new house with her son.

“I get acquainted with hardship, but I have to look after my disabled son who requires a house after I die,” she said. “I want to express my deep gratitude for the Party and State’s concern.”

Minh was an orphan when she was a child and she was raise by her aunt. She got married when she was 28 and gave birth to four children. After her husband had passed away, she alone earned a living to feed them; however, three of them died from diseases. Her only son is now 30 but he is a disabled man.

Similarly, 70-year-old Le Si living in Cat Son also faced severe difficulties when his daughter suffered a cancer in 2008. His family had to spend all money to cure her; however, she then passed away, leaving two daughters.

The province’s association in support of disabled people and orphans donated him VND16 million to build a new house. His relatives gave him more VND9 million. He and two granddaughters don’t have to live in a dilapidated house anymore.

They are among 8 cases receiving the support from the association to build new houses. “We initially intended to help disabled people only,” said the association’s vice chairman La Quang Anh. “But we then decided to help two orphans Nguyen Thi Nu and Nguyen Thi Trang as they faced so many difficulties.”

Alongside the financial assistance, the localities also helped these social beneficiaries by quickly finishing all formalities or asking more building workers to build their houses.
