Happy ending for a poor student

Chau Kim Cuong

Seven year ago, Chau Kim Cuong, the twelfth grader Chau Kim Cuong of Quy Nhon-based Quoc Hoc high school, qualified for two universities in HCM City but his family couldn’t afford his studying. Seven years later, he has happily returned to Binh Dinh to prepare for a “new page” of his life.

Cuong received the financial support from many benefactors at that time, helping him continue studying at the HCM City-based University of Technology.

Studying at the University of Technology, Cuong became one of five students receiving the scholarship funded by Tuoi Tre Newspaper.

During four years at the university, he always tried his best to study well. His good academic achievements and skills in “hunting” scholarships helped Cuong gain many scholarships dedicated to disadvantaged students.

After graduating in IT from the university in 2009, he has become a lecturer at the university while his younger brother Chau Kim Hung is also a lecturer at HCM City-based University of Information and Technology.

At present, he has been in Quy Nhon to prepare for another journey. He was qualified for Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) scholarship worth US$54,000 and he will go to study in the US in August.

“I will try to attend MA and PhD courses later,” he said.
