Aiding disadvantaged children in going to school
14:40', 15/8/ 2011 (GMT+7)

Disadvantaged students living in four northern districts of Binh Dinh province are receiving scholarships.

Binh Dinh Fund for Children granted 250 scholarships and many gifts to disadvantaged children, aiming to help them prepare for the new academic year of 2011-2012.

The fund presented scholarships to 159 students in southern districts today (Aug.15). It had also given 91 scholarships to those living in northern districts one week ago.

Many benefactors, social organizations, and businesses have financed the Fund, such as Binh Dinh fellow-countrymen association in Ha Noi, Sai Gon – Mien Trung Beer JSC, Binh Dinh Life Insurance Company, and Vietnam Fund for Children.

More than 3,000 children have received scholarships dedicated to outstanding but poor students in the past 17 years. In 2011, among 250 scholarship recipients, there are 26 ethnic minority students, 23 students whose parents are war invalids or martyrs, and 182 receiving scholarships for 2-10 years.

The scholarships are expected to partly help these students buy new clothes and books for the upcoming academic years, encouraging them to study well.

Granting scholarships to disadvantaged children is one of key annual activities launched by the province’s Fund for Children. It shows the Party and State’s concern for revolutionary and poor households.

Hopefully, there will be more outstanding but poor students as well as disabled ones receiving scholarships from other Funds, organizations, and businesses.
