Initial results in brain surgery at Bong Son hospital

The first patient with brain injury was successfully operated at Bong Son hospital.

Brain injury is a common issue in surgery emergency. It annually costs thousands of lives and many invalids, leaving a burden for their families and the society.

According to the annual statistics, traffic accident is the main cause of brain injury. The treatment of brain injury is aimed at reducing the rate of death and invalid.

A large number of patients with brain injury have been hospitalized at Bong Son General Hospital for years. Many cases were caused by traffic accidents.

Doctors are now able to give early treatment to patients with brain injury thanks to advanced technologies. The hospital has put a modern CT scanner into operation since January, 2010, greatly assisting its doctors in diagnoses and cure brain injury cases.

Under the technical assistance from Binh Dinh General Hospital, Bong Son hospital’s doctors have operated 20 patients with brain injury since February, 2010.

Since the hospital applied advanced technologies in brain surgery, the number of patients who have to be transferred to other hospitals has considerably reduced. It thus gives more chance to save the patients’ life and reduce their expenses.
