The establishment of An Nhon town was unanimously approved at the 9th session of provincial People’s Council. The issue will be tabled again at the ongoing 11th session.

Under the resolution proposed at the 9th session of provincial People’s Council, An Nhon district’s local authorities were steered to propose the detailed planning of An Nhon urban and Binh Dinh town will be recognized as the fourth-grade town.

An Nhon has potential for industrial production and trading activities in the urbanization process. However, the infrastructure construction, particularly roads and urban decoration, plays an important role in making it become an urban which is directly under the province.

The upgrade of An Nhon district has been implemented for many years. Also, Binh Dinh town is given special concern as it belongs to the province’s overall socio-economic planning by 2020. Many key works have been built, meeting the demand for the sustainable urban development.

The construction of roads, environmental sanitation, and urban landscapes have seen many improvements in the district’s towns. Many large-scale projects were finished, such as An Thai bridge, Binh Dinh new urban area, many residential areas, and different services for tourists.

According the proposal for the establishment of An Nhon district, it possesses an advantageous geographical location in boosting the socio-economic development in the southern area. Alongside this, the district has high growth rate.

An Nhon is expected to become a hub of the southern area after becoming a town, contributing to the economic development of the province in the future.

The establishment of An Nhon town is based on the present-day district whose natural area is over 24,264 hectares and population is 178,724 people.

Under the development planning, An Nhon town covers the areas from Binh Dinh town to Nhon Hung commune and from Dap Da town to Go Gang. It is also expanded along the national high way No.19 in the west.

The areas have been upgraded and they are divided into three special functional zones. As a town, An Nhon includes five inner wards and 10 communes.

After becoming a town, its residents will benefit policies for urban areas which are directly under the province. An Nhon will also have more chances to promote its socio-economic potential.
