New school year, new happiness
15:12', 7/9/ 2011 (GMT+7)

Children are taking morning exercises at Hoa Hong nursery school.

Welcoming the new school year 2011-2012, all teachers and students in Binh Dinh are glad to receive good news.

More than 16,000 teachers’ incomes would increase upon application of the Government's decision to apply seniority allowances beginning September 1. With the seniority allowances, teachers’ incomes would be increased by an average of VND465,000 (USD22.3) per person per month.

Semi-State and private kindergartens and nursery schools will be shifted to public ones operating under financial self-control scheme, bringing happiness to many teachers. At Hoa Hong nursery school, for example, among 19 teachers, there are 17 who haven’t got any allowances or preferences. They will have more benefit after the school becomes a public one.

The fee at public schools is still similar to previous years. Pupils living in mountainous and island areas pay VND15,000 and VND25,000 per month. Also, some 7,000 five-year children belonging to three types of priorities will be monthly offered VND120,000 for their lunch since Sept. 1.

This year also sees the implementation of the “Education for disabled students at senior high schools” model for the first time in Binh Dinh. According to Tran Huu Tuong, head of Tuy Phuoc district’s education and training office, management officials and teachers working at Phuoc An junior high school attended training courses on the model.

The Ministry of Education and Training announced the draft for the proposal to reduce the curriculum overload at all education levels, partly lifting the burden from students’ shoulders.
