PRIME MINISTER NGUYEN TAN DUNG:
Binh Dinh should prioritize development investments to sea port, airport and National Highway No. 19

In his working tour around some provinces on the occasion of the Lunar New Year – Year of Dragon 2012, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived Binh Dinh on November 31. Members of the central government who were accompanying the Prime Minister included Mr. Tran Dai Quang, member of Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee,  Minister of Public Security; leaders of central agencies, such as Central Government Office, the State Bank of Vietnam, Vietnamese People’s Army, Vietnam Air Defence – Air Force, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Resources and Environment; representatives from branches of the Central Government Office.

The central delegation had talks with the provincial leaders, including Mr. Nguyen Van Thien, member of Party Central Committee, Secretary of Binh Dinh’s Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Le Huu Loc, Chairman of Binh Dinh’s Provincial People’s Committee; deputy chairmen of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thanh, Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front in Binh Dinh; members of the  Provincial Party  Committee Standing Board, of the Provincial People’s Council Standing Board, of the Provincial National Assembly delegation, leaders of some local departments and agencies.

At the meeting, Mr. Le Huu Loc - the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee briefly reviewed the socio-economic situation of Binh Dinh in 2011 and introduced main goals in 2012.

In 2011, Binh Dinh reaped significant results: its GDP increased by 10.3%; its agriculture maintained fairly good growth; its social security was ensured and its programme of building houses for the poor finished. Binh Dinh would try to keep its suitable economic growth, transforming its economic structure, enhancing its production, improving its economy’s productivity, quality and efficiency, partly enabling the national inflation reduction, macro-economic stability, social security and living standard improvement; strengthening the local government; ensuring the political stability, defence and social order.

The Provincial People’s Committee suggested that the Prime Minister and the central agencies should solve 5 national issues and 21 specific issues related to Binh Dinh, mainly including: investments to key transportation infrastructure works and the climate change adaptation programme; investments to key irrigation infrastructure works, to dike and stone embankments; investments to Nhon Hoi Economic Zone and other important, urgent works; funds as Vietnam’s capital in ODA projects.

The Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung highly appraised efforts of Binh Dinh to overcome the difficulties and got the fairly good achievements. The Prime Minister encouraged the province to get higher successes while aggressively finding ways to exploit its comparative advantage for its economic growth: turning Quy Nhon sea port into a regional port, taking advantage of Phu Cat airport and Binh Dinh’s geographical location as a door of the Central Highland, the provincial agriculture development. The Prime Minister acknowledged the difficulties that Binh Dinh were facing, particularly in infrastructure building. The central government had been considering investments into infrastructure development nationwide, said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Binh Dinh should make a list of prioritized items before working with the central agencies to get agreement about funds. He insisted that the province should prioritize investments to the sea port, air port and the National Highway No. 19.

* Before the meeting, the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and other delegates had visited the Quang Trung Museum. The delegation offered incense and flowers in front of Quang Trung Emperor Statue, Shrine of Three Tay Son Brothers; planted trees at the museum’s yard.

* Today, January 1, the delegation led by the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung visited Quy Nhon sea port, Phu Cat – based Air Force Regiment 940.
