Recently, the number of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) tours has considerably increased in Binh Dinh. With the upgrade of the tourism infrastructure, Binh Dinh has the potential to develop the MICE market.
1. In 2007, director of Sai Gon – Quy Nhon JSC Nguyen Van Minh said, “We lost some MICE tours with over hundreds of visitors booked rooms at our hotel due to the lack of air transport.”
It’s a pity that the number of rooms at hotels in Binh Dinh hasn’t been filled. Many had booked rooms in advance but then cancelled owing to the lack of means of transport.
The worry has disappeared to some extent when Airbus plane was operated for Sai Gon – Quy Nhon route. The tourism infrastructure has been gradually improved. Many hotels and services were opened.
Also, Binh Dinh includes many tourist sites with unique historical and cultural features and beautiful landscapes, meeting all demands of MICE’s tourists.
Statistics showed that the number of MICE’s tourists in Binh Dinh has increased in recent years. MICE tours operated by Hai Au (Seagull) hotel, Hoang Yen hotel, Life Resort, and Vietravel Quy Nhon always attract many visitors.
Companies organizing MICE tours in Binh Dinh have been optimistic about the ever-increasing number of MICE tourists recently.
Tay Son – Binh Dinh Festival 2008 held successfully made Binh Dinh known more via the mass media. More often, MICE tour operators in Vietnam now choose Binh Dinh as one of their destinations.
2. In Vietnam, tour operators are concerned of MICE tourists because a MICE tour often includes a large number of people with high expenditure. Also, MICE tours target high-income people, bringing many benefits to destinations.
MICE tourists play an important role in introducing destinations to the others because what they talk about the destinations may greatly influence potential customers.
Mien Trung (Central) Tourism Co., Ltd successfully operated some MICE tours in Binh Dinh. These MICE tourists expressed the hope that Binh Dinh’s tourism infrastructure and services will be more and more improved to attract more tourists.
Binh Dinh has many advantages to develop MICE tour market and tour operators are encouraged to operate MICE tours in Binh Dinh, according to Huynh Cao Nhat, director of Binh Dinh Tourism Promotion Center.
3. Binh Dinh has the potential to develop tourism but its infrastructure and services haven’t been fully improved, said tour operators. These must be done to attract visitors coming to Binh Dinh.
Binh Dinh’s tour operators also lack game show emcees, said vice director of Hai Au hotel, Nguyen Van Phuc. Often, MICE tours include game shows, helping participants get more familiar. MICE tours are, therefore, required to have game shows.
