The Tay Son- Binh Dinh Festival 2008 is scheduled to take place from August 1 to 3. There will be many festivities reflecting Binh Dinh’s cultural and historical features. Below are some key festivities.

Most activities of this festival will take place in the city of Quy Nhon (the city’s trade center, the Thi Nai Bridge, and the Ghenh Rang area). Some activities will take place in Quang Trung Museum.
The opening ceremony of the festival will take place at 8 pm on August 1 at the square in front of the Quy Nhon Trade Center. The program will begin with the performance of Tay Son wardrum and the march of Tay Son insurgent army. Three main parts will follow, including “Binh Dinh – the beloved land, “Tay Son’s spirit nationwide”, and “Reform – Integration and development”. Art troupes from other provinces will also participate in the ceremony.
The flower and incense offering ceremony at Quang Trung Museum: from 8 am to 10 am on August 1 at Quang Trung Museum. Alongside this, there will be other activities such as art performances and folk games.
The flower garlands and color lanterns on Thi Nai lagoon will begin at 8 pm on August 2 in the west of Thi Nai Bridge. The night festival will include the art performance, and flower garlands and color lanterns.
Tuong (Vietnamese classical drama) Festival will be held from July 25 to 30 at Dao Tan Tuong theatre. Tuong troupes from provinces nationwide, consisting of a troupe of the Central Tuong Theater and troupes of Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, and Thanh Hoa will perform at the festival.
The beauty contest is an opportunity to show the talent of Vietnamese women and those coming from the lands of martial arts in the cause of the country’s integration and development. The semi-final will take place in Quy Nhon from July 28 to 30 and the final round from August 1 to 3. Ten contestants selected for the final night will perform to be awarded the titles of Miss, second best Miss, and third best Miss.
The second International Festival of Vietnamese traditional martial arts: about 40 delegations from countries and territories worldwide will attend the festival. Also, more than 500 athletes and Masters nationwide will join the event. It begins at 8 am on July 31 and the opening ceremony will take place at 8 pm on the same day at Quy Nhon stadium. The performance will last by August 2.
Food and Craft Village Festival is going to take place from July 27 to August 3. Binh Dinh’s traditional craft villages will display their products. A trade fair will also be held with the participation of 30 enterprises.
Those who attend the festival will have a chance to enjoy specialties of Binh Dinh and other provinces.
