Binh Dinh joined the international travel expo-Ho Chi Minh City 2008 (ITE HCMC 2008) to promote Binh Dinh tourism. Binh Dinh Newspaper’s reporter talked with director of Binh Dinh Tourism Promotion Center, Huynh Cao Nhat, about the issue.
* Could you brief on ITE HCMC 2008?
This year’s ITE entitled “Mesmerizing Charms of Cambodia – Laos – Vietnam – Three Countries One Destination” was held in Ho Chi Minh City from September 12 to 14. It aimed to promote the similarities as well as tourism potential of three coutries.
180 representatives of 13 countries joined ITE HCMC 2008, including 18 provinces and cities in Vietnam. This was an opportunity for tour operators and travel agencites to find partners, share information, and promote tourist activities.
Binh Dinh’s delegation included leaders of provincial Culture, Sports, and Tourism Department, provincial Tourism Promotion Center, Hai Au (Seagull) hotel.
* Could you talk more about Binh Dinh’s stall and its operation?
Binh Dinh participated in ITE HCMC 2008 with the aim of introducing destinations and tours in Binh Dinh. This year’s participation was expected to be more effective.
More than 400 Binh Dinh tourism guidebooks, 400 maps, 350 disks on Binh Dinh tourism, and 7,000 leaflets on 14 tourist sites in Binh Dinh were sent to travel agencies and tour guides
Also, 260 tour operators visited Binh Dinh’s stall, including 100 visiting to share experiences and sign contracts.
* What do you think about the effectiveness of Binh Dinh’s participation ?
The most remarkable result is that the Binh Dinh tourism has been known more. Many travel agencies were surprised with the development and attraction of Binh Dinh tourism.
We do believe that Binh Dinh tourism has the potential to attract more and more tourists. At the expo, we worked with four newspapers to put advertisements on these newspapers.
Hai Au hotel also signed 27 contracts in 2009 and 60 memoranda of agreement for tourism cooperation with domestic and foreign partners.
Participating in ITE HCMC 2008 helped us to know more about the tourism promotion and experience advantages and disadvantages of Binh Dinh tourism.
Binh Dinh tourism has been promoted in the past few years. Thanks to Tay Son - Binh Dinh Festival, Binh Dinh has been also know more.
At the ITE HCMC 2008, our operation proved effective. Most publications met demands of tour operators.
I think that the tourism promotion should be done in parallel with the infrastructure construction and the development of services and tourism products.
Travel agencies were concerned of 14 tourist sites in Binh Dinh because they also hope to make their program more interesting. We are, however, worrying about the infrastructure and services in Binh Dinh.
