With a long beach, Phuong Mai peninsula, Thi Nai lagoon, and a salt marsh ecosystem, the Binh Dinh’s tourism industry is expected to fully develop. However, how to effectively explore its potential is highly problematic.

To make a breakthrough in planning Quy Nhon city, an overall planning of Quy Nhon city till 2020 was officially published.

Accordingly, the city will cover an area of 33,473 ha with the population of 500000 by 2020. It will be extended to the north, with the northwest bordering on Phu Cat and the east bounded by Tuy Phuoc.

Some main roads in inner Quy Nhon will be newly built. The extension of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Dien Bien Phu street, and other new roads are expected to make the city more modern.

The city is also planned to be extended to the north, covering the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone, deep water port, industrial zone, non-tariff zone, and new urban area.

Some tourism routes and sites have undergone changes. Hai Giang-Trung Luong tourism route, Quy Nhon-Song Cau route, and Gheng Rang tourism site will be more attractive in the future.

Other areas, including the north of Ha Thanh River, Nhon Binh ward, and urbanized areas, such as Tran Quang Dieu and Bui Thi Xuan have been planned in detail.

“The extension of the city to the north, involving the Thi Nai lagoon, will be a noteworthy change of Quy Nhon in the future,” said the province’s investment promotion center director, Nguyen Thanh Hai. “The lagoon is expected to create a distinctive feature for the city’s landscape.”

One of decisive actions affecting the city’s development is to call on investors to invest in tourism projects in Binh Dinh. They could build hotels, resorts, and new urban areas.

At present, the operation of Hoang Anh resort, Life resort, or Hai Au (Seagull) hotel created a breakthrough in the city planning.

The province’s authorities have been promoting the infrastructure construction, the upgrade of Quy Nhon port, Phu Cat airport, and trade centers, as well as the preservation of historic relics. These moves aims to diversify services for tourism.

With the flow of investment capital strongly pouring into the province, development strategies, and many projects calling on investment, Quy Nhon city is expected to catch up with Da Nang or Nha Trang in the future.
