Despite the economic recession, the number of domestic tourists visiting tourism destinations nationwide and in Binh Dinh has still increased.

Good signs

Many businesses couldn’t afford their staff chances to travel due to the economic regression, according to the city-based tour operators.

However, those who work in non-business sector, such as schools and administrative agencies had more opportunities to travel for they had well prepared beforehand. The province’s travel agencies also offered many types of tours to the private sector.

Experts said this year’s tour prices have considerably dropped thanks to the Government’s stimulus policies and a 50 percent VAT reduction in the tourism sector.

Alongside this, the transportation fee and costs of other services tended to go down, aiming to attract more tourists.

Travelling to the central province of Binh Dinh is now easier. Tourists those who want  to come to Binh Dinh or leave the province for other destinations could travel by air and train weekly.

Also, services and infrastructure in Binh Dinh have been improved, let alone many promotion campaigns for the province’s destinations carried out in Ha Noi, HCM City, and other provinces, helping Binh Dinh become well-known as a new attractive destination.

Such tour operators as Hai Au (Seagull), Vietravel, Mien Trung, and Hoang Yen offered many tours in Binh Dinh to visitors coming from Ha Noi and HCM City. The number of tourists coming to Binh Dinh dramatically went up, compared to previous years, let alone many coming to Quy Nhon to attend workshops and meetings.

Strengthening tourism promotion

The economic recession badly affected MICE tours in Binh Dinh. However, alongside the number of domestic tourists, many came to attend training courses and meetings held in Quy Nhon city, filling all hotels in the city and even some hostels. The city-based hotels have been busy welcoming many tourists since April.

The issue is that those who came to Quy Nhon to participate in workshops had only a few days. Most of them, therefore, refused when being offered tours in Binh Dinh. It was a pity that they had no chance to visit anywhere when coming to Binh Dinh.

Because there was no toursim program when workshops and meetings were taking place in Binh Dinh, the community tourism benefited nothing, said manager of Mien Trung Tourism Co., Ltd, Nguyen Pham Kien Trung.

The province’s destinations and services became unknown. Also, functional bodies couldn’t take full advantage of these opportunities to boost the tourism promotion, he added.

It’s necessary to coordinate to combine opportunities when workshops take place with tourism promotion. During workshops and meetings, for example, participants should have at least a day off to visit destinations. This is expected to help boost Binh Dinh tourism.
